Why does our Knoxville shop save oil?

Instead of running on propane, the Knoxville shop heats itself all winter with a waste-oil burning heater - turning used oil into free heat instead of paying for propane.

The oil comes right from the fleet of trucks they service. Each truck goes through about 11 gallons of oil every 35,000 miles. Rather than disposing of that used oil, it's collected in 250-gallon drums and fed straight into the shop's oil-burning heater.

Depending on how long winter runs, the heater burns through roughly 1,500 gallons a season - oil that would otherwise need to be hauled off, and propane the shop no longer has to buy.

That's the win: waste oil already on hand replaces a fuel bill, and the shop stays warm all winter for free.
